Eastern Christian School hosted a two-day reunification exercise training sponsored by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation. The foundation provides 350-400 security trainings a year and serves more than 50,000 schools, districts, agencies, departments and organizations internationally.
Administrators, law enforcement and security personnel from more than a dozen schools and police districts across the state, including Allendale, South Orange, PCTI and Teaneck, were there to learn and discuss best practices in the event of a crisis.
Day one included comprehensive information on The Standard Response Protocol, explaining the common language of Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, as well as presenting intelligence-driven institutional responses in each case. The day ended with Incident Command System training, with guidance on concepts such as common terminology, organizational functions and unified command.
Day two was more interactive, and attendees participated in reunification training exercises. Members played various roles, including serving as members of the reunification team, parents and students.
“I am so appreciative of the guidance and training the “I Love U Guys” Foundation offers. It was great to have participation from so many local police agencies and school districts who were interested in learning about the Standard Response Protocol and The Standard Reunification Method. We are always evaluating our plans and looking for ways to improve and the past two days were extremely valuable,” says Jeff Botbyl, director of operations and school security.
